MILK

Good Friday Afternoon, friend!

My 'normal' writing time is during quiet/naptime around here. Today, there is not much quiet to work off of, so this will be brief.

I just got back from picking up our weekly order of milk. It occured to me to stick my camera in my purse and give you a little glimps of this new experience of mine.

Do not worry, while it might look a tad 'rustic', the milk comes from a reputable farm (the farm pictured below does not produce the milk, their brother's farm does and they transport it here). They also sell Free Range Eggs and cheese, both of which I purchase from here as well. It is a fun, healthy 'rural' treat that I am thankful to dip into!

Just leave the money in the box and check off your name! Not many 'honor system' places like this anymore, are there?

It's a dreary day out here today...but when I pulled in the driveway, I was encouraged to find signs of spring...this Pussywillow bush being one of them!
While I purchase my eggs at the farm now, I look forward to the day when these lovely little ladies do there thing and have nice white and brown eggs waiting for us.
There is a bit of a mystery however....
Remember that song from Seseme Street?

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

Take note to your far left. Long neck, no hair (oh, that I could say the same!!!).
I'm thinking they threw in our Thanksgiving turkey?
Any turkey breeders out there or other animal identifying specialist want to take a stab?

Like I said, time is short today,
but I thank YOU for the time you took to stop by the Coffee Cottage.
Really, it's quite kind of you.

PS. Auntie {Rose of} Sharon...I received and savored every word from the handwritten "comment" that I found alongside the bills in our post office box today. Thank you so. so. much!

Might the mystery poultry be a turken?

My grandmother had one amidst her chicks a couple of years ago.

Hopefully, they lay as well as these sites claim!
Loved the post and the pictures.....

I'm not a chicken expert, but that looks a little like an ostrich. I guess it's kinda small for that:)
My husband thinks it's 'big bird'.

Julie...

I do believe you are right on!!

Thank you for living up to your husband's acurate description of a 'smart woman'!!!

We will leave the Turken nameless until you come to visit, and you will have the distinct honor of naming her. :)
How cool to have a local dairy to buy from!! We don't have anything like that around here...it sounds nice! :)

haha!!! I have NEVER in my life heard of a TURKEN! That's hysterical! I love that there are still people around here who still trust their customers to leave money on their honor. What great memories you are leaving for your kids!

Thanks for the look inside your day. Oh how I would love to live away far enough to buy fresh milk and eggs and cheese. The simple pleasures of life!

Blessings,
Joyce Marie

I need to start going back for milk and eggs.
Reese had a hard time adjusting to the milk so I kind of gave up on the extra trip.
maybe I'll see you there.

Hi, I just discovered your blog from Rachel (foreveranoatneygirl). I am also from the Akron area. So funny to explore your blog and find a picture of our neighbor's farm. We used to live practically next door to these guys. Now we are a bit further uptown. Small world!
