Breakfast in Bed...Our Style

Today marks a special day for the love of my life...he was born on it!
For a homemade, budget-friendly birthday treat, "we" made him breakfast (including his rarely-had favorites: Scrapple and WHITE Italian bread toast. We always have whole wheat/multigrain around here). After it was all arranged nicely on a cookie sheet covered with one of my last remaining dish clothes worthy of display, we headed upstairs to awaken the deep sleeper.
Before the tray was placed before him, I took a moment to get a quick shot with his camera phone (hence the not-so-clear quality)...
It was after this that the tray (hot gourmet coffee and fresh flowers in a vase and all!)was set in front of him and soon after that our littlest gal decided that her daddy's toe sticking out from under the sheet looked quite tasty...tastier than even her banana she held in her hand.
And so, in one lightening quick motion she bent over and bit his toes with all six of her new little pearly whites. Thus, as anyone would, there was an equally quick reflexive leg action, which in turn sent food and flowers flying all over the place.
I wanted and to laugh,..and did. Just later on in the morning.
(After we got the food rearranged on the plate, they mooched off their father big time. It would have annoyed me, but he loves it and says "I'm soaking it all in")
I leave you with a little picture that absolutely warmed and then melted my heart, when I turned around while in the passenger's side of the van. There is a lot of a various interactions between these, and not always sunny, happy encounters...but this moment was completely pure and initiated between them!
A wonderful neighbor-friend of ours has just dropped in...time for a visit! See you soon!

I vote this post the best one that I have read in a long time!!! Hopefully, these illustrated stories will go in your book someday.

Happy Birthday to the kind, patient dad in the picture!
