vacation

The space carved for the making of memories is one of
the most sacred privileges of parenthood.

It is work, and it is not the same definition of "vacation" we
knew before we had children. It is less relaxation with more gratification,
when one stops to consider that these movements and motions outside the normal
will be drawn upon during dark days and lingered over when adult thoughts meander back to the fondest parts of their childhood.

Let us not think that these holidays are merely for the children. They are for all of us. We gratefully shed the usual routine and slip into something less hurried, more exploratory-- an intentional reach out to soak up life.

Wherever, or however you are able to create these memories for the
children in your life, I pray it is sweet to both the giver and receiver.
